This page explains what happens to your details when you use fairwayfigures.com or join the Fairway Figures email list. We've tried to keep it short and plain.

Who we are

Fairway Figures is a trading name of Quarterpenny Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 06016768). Our registered office is Stubbin House, Carsick Hill Rd, Ranmoor, Sheffield, South Yorkshire, S10 3LU.

Quarterpenny Limited is the "data controller" for the personal details covered here. That means we decide how they're used and we're responsible for looking after them.

If you have a question about your data, email hello@fairwayfigures.com.

What we collect and why

When you sign up for the free Leak Finder, we ask for your email address and, if you want to give it, your first name. We use them to:

  • send you the 5-Round Leak Finder spreadsheet
  • send a short run of welcome emails on how to read your results
  • send occasional emails about golf stats and new Fairway Figures products

We do this because you've asked us to by signing up (in data protection terms, the lawful basis is your consent). You can change your mind at any time: every email has an unsubscribe link, or you can just email us.

Your golf numbers stay with you. The Leak Finder is a spreadsheet that lives on your own computer or Google account. It has no macros and sends nothing back to us, so we never see your scores or stats.

If you buy something from us (once our paid products are available), the purchase goes through Payhip. See "Buying from us" below.

If you email us, we'll keep the conversation so we can reply and follow up.

We don't collect anything else about you on purpose, and we don't use your details for automated decisions or profiling.

Email opens and clicks

Like most email newsletters, our emails contain a small tracking pixel, and links in them go through our email provider first. This tells us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, along with basic technical details such as the time, rough location from your IP address and the kind of device or email app you used. We use this to see which emails are useful and which aren't, and to stop emailing people who have long since stopped reading.

If you'd rather not be tracked this way, you can unsubscribe at any time. Many email apps also let you block images, which stops the open tracking.

Who else handles your data

We use a small number of companies to run Fairway Figures. They only use your details to provide their service to us.

  • MailerLite runs our email list and sends our emails. For UK and European customers this is MailerLite Limited, 88 Harcourt Street, Dublin 2, Ireland. MailerLite stores subscriber data in data centres in the European Union. It may use other companies (sub-processors) to help provide its service, and where any of them handle data outside the UK or EEA, MailerLite uses standard contractual clauses, with the UK addendum, to protect it. You can read MailerLite's privacy policy and its data processing agreement, which lists its current sub-processors.
  • Payhip sells our digital products. See "Buying from us" below.
  • Our website host stores and serves this website. Like any web server, it may keep short-term logs of visits, including IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running.

We will never sell your details, and we don't share them with anyone else for their own marketing. We'd only pass them on if the law required us to.

Buying from us

Our paid products are sold through Payhip (Payhip Limited, a UK company). For buyers in the UK and EU, Payhip acts as the reseller: it takes your payment, handles the VAT and delivers your download. Payhip collects the details it needs to do that, such as your name, email address, country and IP address, and it uses its own privacy policy for them. Card payments are handled by the payment provider you choose at checkout (for example Stripe or PayPal), and we never see your card details.

Payhip shares your name, email address and order details with us so that we know who has bought what and can help if something goes wrong. Read Payhip's privacy policy.

Cookies

This website doesn't use analytics or advertising cookies. The only exception is the MailerLite sign-up form: it may set a few small cookies or similar browser storage so the form works properly, for example to remember that you've already signed up. MailerLite lists them on its page about the cookies its forms use. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings.

How long we keep it

  • Email list: for as long as you're subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we keep your email address on a "do not email" list so you aren't added back by mistake. If you'd like it removed completely, email us and we'll delete it.
  • Purchase records: for six years after the end of the company's financial year in which you bought, because UK tax law says we must.
  • Emails you send us: for as long as we need them to deal with your question, and no more than two years after we last hear from you, unless they relate to a purchase.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • ask us to correct anything that's wrong
  • ask us to delete your data
  • ask us to limit how we use it, or object to us using it
  • ask for your data in a format you can take elsewhere
  • withdraw your consent at any time, which won't affect anything we did before you withdrew it

To use any of these rights, email hello@fairwayfigures.com. There's no charge, and we'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first and we'll try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Children

Fairway Figures is meant for adult golfers. We don't aim our emails or products at anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their details. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete their details.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use your data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If it's a big change, we'll email subscribers to let them know.
